The Muse in New York City

Any recent reviews of this new hotel? We booked a night there and would like any advice or suggestions. I'd love any ideas about good nearby restaurants.

Hotel was reviewed in FEb. 5, 2001 issue of New York Magazine. You could probably find the review on their websit: www.newyorkmag.com.

Emma, Whenever our clients come into town we put them up at this hotel. They actually request it since they prefer it over the other midtown hotels. As you've probably read in any of the reviews it's considered a boutique hotel which means they don't have as many rooms as the big chains and the rooms are nice-sized and individually decorated. They also feel they get better service because it's a smaller hotel. Besides that, the location can't be beat, particularly if you're interested in going to the theatre. They have a fabulous restaurant in the hotel called "The District" (another Sammy de Marco inspiration). You'll find that besides the innovative menu they have a very nice wine list.

To RQF: Thanks for the suggestion. i can't seem to find hotel reviews on the New York Magazine website. Do you have any recollection of what they found?

On a scale of 1 to 10 service was given a 7, decor a 5 and hipness factor (not sure what that means) a 3
Quoted from acticle
Guest profile - Broadway buffs, publishing and entertainment execs
The Room - sleepy mix of muted colors, berber carpets and marble baths. Feather beds and duvets make the case that a good night's sleep can be the ultimate luxury.
Bath products are high grade, twice daily maid service.
Service - called the concierge for Advil a little after midnight. No one answered phone for at least 30 minutes. Faxes were never received.

Article also indicated rooms are immense by NY standards. It also stated "by trying too hard to be a cool boutique hotel it risks losing sight of its most appealing qualities. This comment was in reference to the fact that they make a big deal about their "anticipatory serice" and service left something to be desired.
