I was disappointed with Captiva and Sanibel area after all I had heard about it. As has been pointed out the shoreline is veryvery covered with shells which made enjoying the beach difficult---you always had to watch where you were walking.

Disneyworld - any hotel.

This one is not in US but the most over-rated resort we have ever visited was the Marriott Resort in Aruba.....over-crowded, under-staffed, lousy food, the most uncomfortable beds anywhere, tired, run-down furnishings, mal-functioning elevators, the slowest room service.....just awful! We were paying in CDN dollars @ $700 per night for this over Christmas/Holiday Season a few years ago!! Unbelievable!

Here is my contribution:
I don't go to resorts, I think they are overrated. I like to travel.

Four Seasons Maui. Way too many kids and wannabees chatting nonstop loudly on their cell phones. And I thought one was supposed to go on vacation to relax.

St. Pete Beach, and all Tradewinds resorts. 60's kitschy, tired, dirty, rundown, the whole area was overdeveloped long ago and it shows.

Manele Bay on Lanai in Hawaii. Nice, but not great by any means.

Wyndham Buttes in Tempe, Arizona. Not a nice place at all. On the side of a freeway and run down.

When you heard about Sanibel/Captiva didn't you hear that the beaches are famous for shell collecting?

Maui is an island with locals & tourists and a very wide variety of possibilities for vacation accomodations. Your post is too generalised to be of value.

1) The Atlantis Resort- Bahamas
Words cannot even begin to express my disappoint with this sh*thole.

2) Any all-inclusive.
Beer swilling hicks and bad food. Nuf' said.
