The Metro, Roosevelt or San Carlos
Has anyone stayed in the above hotels. Would welcome any comments, positive or negative.
|
Sofie, have you had a chance to look at the comments written about these hotels on Tripadvisor.com ?
All are well located, with the Metro on 35th being a little further south than the other 2. Are they close in price? Have you compared room size if that is important to you? |
They're in 3 different locations. The Metro is near the Empire State building and Penn Station.
The Roosevelt is nearish to Grand Central Station. It's an older hotel, sort of one of the grand dames. Rooms vary dramatically (by size). The San Carlos is the most recently renovated. It's nearish to Bloomingdales. It's the one I'd pick out of these 3, assuming similar prices. But what do you plan to do and how many are you? That might affect your decision. |
My adult daughter and I stayed in a double-double in the Hotel Metro in March. We thoroughly enjoyed it, and the amenities ( roof top deck with fantastic view of the Empire State, excellent continental breakfast offered ina room off the lobby) were just those that we wished for. The staff is helpful, the room size quite large for NYC,subway is less than a block away, and the location conducive to walking uptown, or to Union Square.
Very clean, and updated. We would return. |
To be honest room size is the most important but I haven't found a website which features room sizes of hotels.Looking at a vedeo cam of the Hilton hotel, even a standard room looks quite large. $300-$350 per night is what we are looking at

The San Carlos rooms are a good size and the price should include continental breakfast. As I said, they also have suites but not sure the price you're looking at is a suite.
http://sancarloshotel.com/rooms-midtown-nyc-hotels.asp The Metro also has suites and decent sized rooms. I think if you narrow your search, you can phone the hotel and ask about room size. |
