The James Hotel Chicago

I am narrowing down my Hotel choices for our upcoming 25th anniversary(previously posted) and am looking at The James Hotel Chicago.
Has anyone on this forum ever stayed there? How is the location to Michigan Ave?

Will take any input. Thanks!!

I stayed there a couple years ago. Nice, modern hotel, huge TV in room, nice amenities. Wine bar/restaurant in lobby. I used their personal trainer as part of a package and thought the workout was excellent. It was close enough to Michigan Avenue to walk but I also took cabs when going to scheduled events.

We stayed there at the end of December and liked it very much.
Location is very good, close to Mich. Ave.
Many good dining choices. We ate at the steak house in the hotel and had a wonderful experience.
And Trader Joes is across the street!

Trader Joe's is a chain of specialty grocery stores in the US with a focus on health and price.

If you do a forum search you'll find multiple threads listing things people like (and love) to purchase there.

Happy anniversary and I hope you have a great trip. I love Chicago.

Thanks obxgirl that will be useful haveing grocery store that close to the hotel.

Does anyone know if there is a good breakfast place close by rather than eating at the hotel which can be quite expensive or can Trader Joes fit that bill?

Is the James fairly close to Michigan Ave?

Directly across the street and next to Traders is a nice cafeteria style place with many good breakfast choices. I bought some lox and bagels and took it back to the room for my wife and daughter.
Michigan have is 30 seconds walk from The James.

Hi vittoria,

I think the B'fast place logandog is referring to is Eleaven which is very close and is suppose to have great bagels... but have full b'fast, as well.

Also, eggsperience isn't a far walk...

There's also a cosi cafe, starbucks, corner bakery -- all very close by.

The James is a great choice for location and convenience (I work a block away).

I'm sure you'll have a great time!
