The Hamptons, New York

Hi,

I am planning a bachelorette party in August this year. I want to rent a house for about 10, but I'm not sure which location in the Hamptons would be best for us. Something located near the beach and close to dining areas and shopping. Also we are thinking about renting bikes to ride around town, is that something we could do? Just need info about the hamptons! Thanks :)

Can you afford $8000 a week?

This VRBO might be worth looking at: http://www.vrbo.com/356501ha

Houses will rent for a week at a minimum and the good ones go early (typically rentals are arranged in March). Many houses have strict limits on the number of people staying. Bikes might be OK depending on where the house is - near the beach will be far from town.

If you have not been there suggest you start doing heavy duty research now for rentals.

The place I pointed at specifically advertises itself for the kind of event you want and sleeps 12, but nytraveler is absolutely right that it may already be booked. You can't afford to waste a lot of time getting something locked in.

If you don't need to be in East or Southampton, try Westhampton Beach. Cute town, shops, restaurants. I don't know anything about rentals, but I'm sure there are houses available within walking or biking distance to beaches. And in WHB, near the beach is not necessarily far from town. I'm a former local from a few decades back, and when we go out to visit family, we stay at one of the WHB B&Bs.

Yes, but a B&B isn;t going to want to host a bachelorette week.

No, I, personally, stay at a B&B, not recommending it for a group.
