The District by Hilton Club
This is a new hotel/part of hotel in Washington, D.C. out in the West End. I haven't been able to find any reviews so far, as it only opened at the beginning of the month. Does anyone have a comment? The price for a suite is really, really good, and it looks as though there are a lot of good restaurants in the area.

Isn't that the Embassy Suites?
|
And per both websites (Embassy Suites and The District) the prices are probably good because of the construction/refurbishment going on.
|
The Embassy Suites is evidently being seriously renovated and turned into a Club brand. But nothing on the various web sites mentions the construction; some reviews do. Curious, but I suppose that's marketing these days.

Yes it is on both sites: I saw a red alert at the top of both websites -- that is the only reason I knew. On The District site it says no cooked breakfasts until June which I assumed was because the kitchens/restaurant are down and on the Embassy Suites site at the very top with a red triangle >><red>Reinvention in progress! The following facilities are currently closed: parking garage and indoor pool through July 1, 2016, fitness center through May 20, 2016, and our restaurant is closed. Guests can expect noise between 7:30 am and 8:00 pm. We apologize for the inconvenience. Click here for an alternative Embassy Suites in downtown DC.</red><< |
Well, the sites I looked at didn't have that very important information. Thanks, janisj! We would be going at the beginning of October; so perhaps the "reinvention" will be completed by then.

How is the West End area compared with Dupont Circle? One alternative hotel is the Fairfax, which is closer to a metro station.
