the difference between a lodge, b&b, hotel etc.

We are planning a vacation on the west coast somewhere between California and Oregon. A quick research showed there are some lodges as well as the usual bed and breakfast, hotel, motel and spa resorts.

Although I am familiar with the basic concept of most, I am not sure what is a lodge and how that would be really different from the others.

Hope this is not a stupid question. Maybe someone can explain or share their experience at a lodge.

Thanks

It really depends on the particular lodge, but I generally think of a lodge as being more rustic than a hotel, inn, or B&B.
