The Copia in Napa
 

Has anyone visited Copia (the food and arts center) in Napa? I'm just curious to see if it's worth stopping by for a visit. If so, any recommendations for lodging near by? <BR>Thanks.

Make sure to do a search as this was discussed a couple months ago..We went and I am glad we went. I loved the giftshop and books. The prices are quite high to eat, So we skipped that since Downtown Joes can't be beat for lunch. ( It certainly is not as elegant though!). You might want to call ahead as thwe exhibits change and this could be your determining factor. I personally don't think it would be my only reason for spending the night though. It was not that riveting!

I advise you to SKIP IT ! This place is<BR>overrated. Boring - boring- boring. There is so much to see and do in the Napa valley -don't waste time at Copia.<BR>Go see some of the old beautiful wineries. Dine in great restaurants. Enjoy the senic views of the vineyards.<BR>Have a mud bath...etc,etc.

I agree with Jennifer, skip it. Four of us went in December and we all found it very boring. The area has so much more to offer.

Thanks all for your input. We'll be in Napa for a few days, and was trying to figure out whether the Copia is worth a visit. Even if it's for a couple of hours. We're not huge wine drinkers, but are interested in visiting a winery or two. I haven't fully planned the weekend yet, but hope to get some ideas on great, but casual places to eat. So, if anyone has any suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it!<BR>Thanks again!

A great casual place to eat is Bistro Jeanty in Yountville.

We visited Copia during our vacations in the State one month ago (We live in Italy).<BR><BR>It's a "strange" place...but I think that the only real meaning to go there is related to your interest to wine and food tasting.<BR><BR>I agree that it's overrated, if you just would like to visit it as a "museum" don't waste your time.<BR><BR>Ciao.<BR>

We just returned from a weekend in Napa. We loved Copia. If you like museums, architecture and more information on food and wine then this is a wonderful place. The videos they showed were well made and full of new information even for those of us who have been previously exposed (even inundated) with wine tasteing and good food. I do think the $12.50 is a bit high for admission, but we had a free vertical tasting of cabernets, a talk and a tasting of New York wines, and tastes of a few small food goodies. However, if this is your first time to the Napa valley, and have fewer than three days, this might not be the best choice of how to spend a day. We were very happy there for four hours, not counting eating.

My friend is driving up to Napa to visit Copia taking me along, so I'm searching for advices. <BR><BR>What is &quot;vertical tasting&quot; - it's in Carol's posting, the one above mine?
