That's what a hamburger's all about

Rejoice In 'n' Out fans! The chain will be opening restaurants in Dallas/Ft. Worth!

Actually, I'm a Hamburger Habit girl, but if I leave California I'm outta luck.

I have no idea why In 'n' Outs are so beloved.

november_moon May 27th, 2010 07:41 PM

db - I am not entirely sure either. I like their burgers occasionally, but I don't understand the large following. And I LOVE a good burger. I still mourn the closing of Hal's Grubsteak in Yuba City, CA, and it's been 10 years now, I guess.

I'm also not sure why the allure. They're certainly good for a fast-food burger, but their fries taste like cardboard (I don't know how you do that with fresh potatoes, but they manage somehow).

Jean,

We've developed the Habit. Just had one last Sunday in El Segundo!

If I want a good hamburger I still prefer the backyard grill.

I agree with the comment that In 'N' Out is beloved by those who eat a lot of fast food. If you don't like fast food they are not that great.

Great Burgers . . Great Fries

Nancy, I used to make my husband take me up to the one on National about once a month. I don't know who was more excited when the one in ES opened! :-)

I had Five Guys last year when I was in PA. And it was a tasty burger.

I finally had an In and Out burger a few months ago, and was underwhelmed, but the shake was good and I was wishing it was bigger. LOL

MBnancy May 29th, 2010 01:40 AM

Do you guys who were underwhelmed, order off the Secret Menu? You can order just about anything you want.

A Cheeseburger Animal Style is great, as is the Neapolitan Shake.

It's a mustard cooked beef patty, additional pickles, lettuce, tomato, extra secret sauce, with grilled onions.

A Neapolitan Shake is Strawberry, vanilla and chocolate swirled together, not blended.

I have ordered off the "secret menu" - doesn't matter, the burger itself just isn't that good! Like I said, I think it's GREAT for a fast-food burger, but when I want a really good burger, I can think of two or three restaurants right in my town that serve mouth-wateringly delicious burgers, at aa price of course :-)
