Thanksgiving Parade NYC
It may be too late to accomplish; but, any advice on a hotel along the parade route that is a little off the major congested route. Any comments on previous stays at this time of year would be helpful. Thanks

You do not want not stay on the route. Too much tumult....parade staff, police, tv trucks. 2 blocks away from the start of the parade is the Lucerne. Corner of 79th and Amsterdam.

Great location for restaurants, i block from the subway and buses.

Although I disagree with the previous poster about staying on the parade route, I doubt that you'll be able to get a room at this late date. I did this quite some time ago [probably 10 yrs ago] while my kids were still young, and we all loved it. Since you need to get out early to establish a spot curbside, you'll want the convenience of the hotel for rest rooms! And, we needed to show our key just to get back in, during the wait for the parade. Maybe these days it's not as crowded. Good luck with your plans. It was a lot of fun.

only 3 short blocks from the parade is the sheraton new york towers..great location for midtown and the kids can use the pool at the nearby sheraton manhattan..don't miss the parade..it's a graet tradition

Several years ago, we rented a room at the Marriott Marquis, just above Times Square. We asked for a room facing the parade route, and got one. Then we invited local friends over for brunch. As it turned out, it was a cold, cold day, so watching all the activity from the inside was a real treat, although I have to say, the view was better on TV.

Thanks for the information; will make some calls.

At a similar rate,do not stay at the Sheraton Manhattan!
I had a bad experience last august in a club double/double room (travelling with my 2 kids.

The hotel has not seen any renovation the last 20 years ,
and has just 'emerged' from a 9 months rental as an office building.

The pool area is not clean and i did not leave my kids aged 7 and 12 alone as i noticed the presence of 'people' definitely not guests of this hotel or of the sheraton NY and Towers
