Thanksgiving in Colorado

Spending tgiving in Colorado, Crested Butte area - where should we spend the rest of the weekend this time of year? Thanks for any help. We have visited Telluride and Gunnison, other than that we are up for a couple of days anywhere that offers something this time of year....thanks

Crested Butte is lovely - I would spend my time there. You can do a day trip to Black Canyon of the Gunnison. We use to always spend Thanksgiving in Crested Butte (dinner at Slogars) - and we have gone to the canyon for a day...

I guess you don't ski? Are you driving from somewhere or flying in and renting a car? If you have to go back to DIA, I always love a winter stop at Glenwood Hot Springs. (long drive from CB). Also, there used to be a luxury lodge outside of Crested Butte that offered snow mobiling. Up Kebler Pass Rd.(Can't think of the name). Another idea for a long drive is to Arches National Monument near Moab or Mesa Verde and Durango area. I don't know if its still available, but years ago, I went to Lake City in the winter. They had helicopter cross country skiing. For a quiet time, there is Winona Hot Springs near Parlin, east of Gunnison. I believe they are open in the winter.

thanks for your replies, you are correct, we don't ski! but up for most adventures otherwise, that will less likely risk going on crutches for a few months,,,would love to learn, however our livelihood relies on being mobile, and my gut tells me, if I haven't learnt yet, I'm asking for trouble. I've learnt to listen to my insinct for now. Snow mobiling and cross country sound like a great idea! Thanks

Also, there a full service information kiosk in Gunnison. You might give them a telephone call and see if they can mail you some brochures on places that have winter activities. I was just in there last week and they were very helpful. Sorry, I don't know the name, but maybe a search under Gunnison tourist information might help.
