Thanksgiving in Boston area

I need some help -- please. I'm visitng Boston (from the Midwest) with my three teen sons. Where would be a great place to eat a memorable Thanksgiving dinner? We're staying in Cambridge. Thanks a whole lot. Also, what route would you take to Woodstock Vermont from Boston and where is a good "true New England" place to stay one night of our journey. Do I remember a Franconia Inn or something? Would really appreciate a reply!!

Henrietta's Table or any of the hotels in the Harvard Sq. area is one approach (Henrietta may have a buffet -- very good food but pricey and upscale). You'll probably find that normal restaurants aren't doing Thanksgiving, so hotel restaurants will be your best bet in general.

Another possibility is to get out to Longfellow's Wayside Inn in Wayland or, even further, Sturbridge Village. Need reservations pronto either place.

Woodstock is a "true New England place". It's a 2 to 3 hour drive from Boston. Fastest route is to take 93 north from Boston, then 89 west at Concord. The turn to Woodstock is right past the Vermont Border.

Another approach would be route 2 from Boston to I91, then I91 north to I89 west, and an almost immediate turn to Woodstock.

Here's another vote for Henrietta's; we haven't had Thanksgiving dinner there, but we have been there many times, and I think it lends itself perfectly for Thanksgiving. The food is excellent, the decor is "warm and homey."
