Thanksgiving dinner in Golden Isles?
 

Anyone know of restaurants in the St. Simons, Jekyll, or Brunwick area that will be serving Thanksgiving? Jekyll Island Club Hotel is booked up with a waiting list of 100+, and The King and Prince is just too pricey to justify at $60, given there's a picky eater. I haven't had luck finding any other options.

It would need to either be a buffet with more than just T-giving offerings, or serve a regular menu along with traditional T-giving fare.

Get your own at the local Whole Foods/Publix/whatever deli?
Several years ago our beach week fell on T'giving and we had the BEST time ever doing it in our own place with a full table (and not the deli takeout!!). ;o)

Good thought, but there's just two of us, and only one that eats Thanksgiving! We may wind up at a Cracker Barrel or Old Country Buffet, but I really, really hope there's other options.

I would check out B&Js or Skipper's in Darien, a half hour's ride from St. Simons. Skipper's is on the water and B&Js is on the roadside but both are legit Georgia coastal restaurants, popular with locals as well as tourists. I've had the buffet at B&Js--real "southern" food. Neither of these places is fancy in fact, B&Js is as plain as you can get. To my mind, much more of an experience than a hotel buffet. You'd have to check if they are open for the holiday, and also be willing to dine in a more "down home" ambience than the places you mentioned.

"Returned a few hours ago from the above-mentioned B&Js in Darien and I highly recommend!

Outstanding local shrimp, Florida oysters..beautifully fried and served in immense portions; half oysters, half shrimp, with great cole slaw and long-cooked green beans: $18.95.

Great spot....just a few minutes off I-95, exit 49, on Rte 17. About 30 minutes from Jekyll Island.

Not at all fancy..just a cinder-block-type place, but friendly staff and oh, that seafood!
Open daily; wine and beer."
