thanksgiving day are shopping centres open
 

Does someone know if the shopping malls in ft lauderdale are going to be open on thanksgiving day? I would greatly appreciate a reply. Thank you.

I would not expect them to be open. Almost no retail stores will be open on Thanksgiving, although restaurants will.

No--but the day after, malls usually open early.

Most stores are closed Thanksgiving, then open VERY early on Black Friday. Expect huge crowds that day.

Movie theatres and restaurants tend to both be open on Thanksgiving though.

Stores with the exception of some convenience stores and random pharmacies will not be open on Thanksgiving. On Black Friday they will open early - as early as 5 am - with first few hour door buster specials.

Black Friday, for overseas posters, is the day after Thanksgiving, the biggest single shopping day in the year. Sales and special pricing to attract the Christmas shopper mean long queues of cars and shoppers at most malls.

And to further explain the meaning of "Black Friday", it was so named because it describes the color of your eyes after getting into the mob of shoppers grabbing and clawing to get their hands on the first or cheapest of anything. It is a day to be avoided by all but the most insane.

Unless you are the one who spent the previous two days cooking and cleaning for others who sat on their duffs and watched football! Then it can be a welcome respite...

The only way I'd be in a store on Black Friday is if I were starving that that was the only way to get food - LOL. Fortunately though, the day after Thanksgiving, food is not in short supply ;)

As for people who have spent the last couple days cooking while other people have sat on their duff and need a break - not sure why people would let their family members get away with not contributing. I'd go on strike if my family members tries that - LOL.

Actually it's called Black Friday because that is traditionally the day of the year when the stores go into the black (ie black ink, start to make a profit). The 11 months before that the stores break even - and the massive shopping between Thanksgiving and Christmas is the profit for the year.

Walmart and K-Mart will be open on Thanksgiving Day. How sad is that???!!
