Thanks For All The Margarita Recipes - Have Another Question As Well
Well I think I've decided upon a recipe for our margarita party this Saturday. I would love to use Cointreau in the recipe, however, for the number of people we are having I think it would be to expensive. So this is my question, has anyone ever used Curacao in a margarita instead of triple sec? If so, which one had a better taste.

Thanks

As a matter of fact, I have had a margarita made with curacao. It was OK, but ultimately the blue color detracted from the whole experience. Like eating green mashed potatoes on St. Patricks Day -- something's a little off.

You have a Chi Chi's near you? Drop in for a raspberry margarita. Delicious -- like liquid candy.

Well actually Al, if I used Curacao I was going to use a clear one. Besides the color, did it taste better or worse than triple sec?

ronnieh

Rather than using the clear Curacao, I would just use triple sec. However why don't you try the Midori Margaritas. If you are interested in better taste - these are really awesome!!!

JoeG

Exactly where are you TRAVELING to for this libation?
|
Maybe to the liquor store to buy the ingredients??

Triple Sec is a relatively inexpensive ($7-9/bottle)substitute, and is usable in lots of other things, like Cosmopolitans, so it wont go to waste. It can also be used in quite a few dessert receipes. Also consider buying an airline size bottle or two of Cointreau (those little ones that they use on airplanes.

Any orange flavored liquor will subsitute just fine. Its all a matter of taste and what the pocket book will allow.
|
And if you have a sore throat, use the orange flavored Robitussin!!!
