Texas Wildflower Photos

Last week my husband and I drove up around Brenham, Texas not far from Houston.

We had also visited about 3 weeks before and taken some photos around Independence, Texas. Most of the bluebonnets around Independence were gone but there were some lovely bluebonnets, indian paintbrush, evening primrose and phlox still blooming in other areas, especially along Scenic Texas 390.

Thought you might enjoy the photos my DH took:

Really nice pics - looks like you found some good spots since the wild flowers in many places aren't quite up to par this year.

This is on my list of '1000 places to see before I die.' Your photos have caused me to move it up on my list...hoping for next Spring. Lovely shots here. TY for sharing.

Wow!!! Those are the best flowers I've seen this season, Bettyk! Independence looks pretty...we'll have to drive over some day.

Have you ever seen pink bluebonnets? We had some in our yard this year...3 plants, two came up pink and one blue.

Beautiful, betty - looks like a Bluebell commercial!

So glad you all are enjoying them. It was such a lovely day and not so buys since we went on Monday after the weekend crowds.

I especially like the photos with the cattle and horses -- they seem so "Texas"!

Independence is very tiny, but there are a couple of really old buildings across from the old town square plus the buildings at Old Baylor Park where the first Baylor University was located.

Another tiny interesting town a few miles away is Chappell Hill.

A couple of the photos were taken here at Lillian Farms. They have a B&B that looks very nice:

OO, I have never seen pink bluebonnets, but I bet they are also lovely. The blues in these bluebonnets were so deep, just awesome.
