TEXAS TAXES
Do you Texans find that not having a state income tax really help, or does the state wham you with other things (like auto registration, property taxes etc.?)
property tax, city tax, county tax..all high in TX..but that is about it. Housing is low....groceries low..electric/gas bills low...worth the trade off.
Oh--forgot to mention auto registration..we do not have to pay a property tax yearly like some cities/states do. Auto insurance is about average. <BR><BR>Plus no filing state taxes ! ya-hoo.
Yeah, but you have to live there. CA has income tax, sales tax, property tax, auto registration but look what we got!!!!

In the words of George W. Bush (or was it just Will Ferrel on SNL?)<BR><BR>"Don't mess with Texas"

Sister, Thanks for the reply.Bet we can top your Texas high property, city, county taxes. We've got a small shack here in NY.Our property taxes are $12,0000 per year!!No wonder why us New Yorkers work six days a week.We HAVE to be aggressive, hard working & driven;it's an expensive rat race here!
Ok, cheap, I'll bite. Just what is your "small shack" appraised at? From the way you describe it is worth maybe $2000? The way I understand New York real estate taxes, it has to be one nice shack to actually cost you $12,000 a year in taxes. Here's an offer. I'll give you $20,000 for it sight unseen. After all it's only a small shack so I'm sure you'll jump at this opportunity. Right? It's hard for me to picture a small shack that the owner wouldn't be willing to sell for $20,000 so how about it?
Yea, cheap, but look at it this way. At least here in New York it's easy to get a taxi and even easier to check your coat at a major tourist restaurant.
------hey Newyorker..but we get our coats back..do you?<BR><BR><BR><BR>
