Texas State Parks

We're looking for the best state park or area for hiking, near Houston TX. We'll be visiting in late December. Any suggestions or tips?

If you do a search for Texas Parks and Wildlife, their website should come up. I remember it being pretty comprehensive.

Haven't hiked near Houston but here's a link to parks within a 60 mile radius.

Galveston SP is one of the closest to Houston but it is still shut down due to heavy damage from the hurricane.

Some of the others are historical sites and don't have camping facilities, although you don't say if you are camping or not.

Huntsville is situated in a beautiful, tall pine forest.

Yes, there are a lot of great spots along the coast, but like Connie said they got Iked. I think the Hill Country area is really beautiful.
