Texas- San Antonio Riverwalk hotel recommendation please

Hey ho Fodorite Friends! Happy New Year!

I'm planning a get-away for my 3 granddaughters (8, 10, 11), my adult daughter, and me to San Antonio for spring break.

I really would like to stay somewhere close to the center of the action, and a balcony looking onto the Riverwalk would be icing on the cake. But I'm not sure I can find the right accommodation for all of us. Ideally, a two-bedroom suite with a living area/pull out couch would be perfect.

When I look at "suite" hotels, most use that term as one bedroom/one living area. If I have to do two rooms, then I have to do two rooms. :( But one of my granddaughters snores like a freight train.. oh, ok, I DO!!! So, we insist on separate sleeping quarters. :))

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

We stayed at the Marriott Rivercenter and really liked it a lot. The location is fantastic, right on the River Walk and close to the spot where the little river barges dock. We stayed on points and got upgraded to a nice suite. It may be pricey, not sure since we stayed on points, but I would recommend the hotel. I don't believe they have balconies though, but the views are nice.

I stayed at Homewood Suites in September 2014. It might be perfect for your family group. It has breakfast included and weeknight light (and not that great) supper - but free wine, beer and a frozen margarhita machine from 5-7 PM. Different size suites. On the end of the RiverWalk - but within walking distance to everything. Service was excellent. Valet parking only, but there is a cheaper city lot within a half block. No balcony, but that might be noisy. (I have a review on TripAdvisor with more details).

I just booked at the TownePlace Suites. It's within walking distance of the Alamo and Riverwalk. Breakfast included. AAA rate was $111 plus $25 to park for the end of April. We got a one king suite with a sofa bed. It has good reviews on TripAdvisor so I"m hoping I made a good choice.

thanks, all. Looks like I'm going to have to delay this trip. :( Just found out my nephew is graduating from Marine Corps boot camp that same weekend, so off to San Diego instead of San Antonio.

I know, who would complain about San Diego? I'm not complaining- I'm just bummed that I won't get to spend four days with my granddaughters. They were looking forward to it. But this nephew's father was my brother who passed in 2000. So I need to be there.

Thanks again. I will keep these in mind when I do get this scheduled!
