Texas Honeymoon

I'm interested in getting some ideas for a honeymoon in Texas at the end of March. Want to to San Antonio for a day or two but would then like to get off into the country side and rent a cabin/house and enjoy the scenary and day trips.

PLEASE HELP! Where would you go and why?

Thanks...

Pickens,

Are you looking for luxury honeymoon
accomodations or a nice simple place? Many people think that Fredericksburg is touristy but my husband and I enjoy it. We have stayed at the Austin Street Retreat which is private and unique. You might try
fbglodging.com for ideas. Fredicksburg makes a good home base for seeing wineries, visiting other Hill Country towns and there are many restaurants and shopping in the town itself. It is touristy but very charming. Another place I would suggest is Wimberly lots of cabins there as well and you can day trip to Austin or New Braunfels.Let me know if you want any more details on some accomodations.

You mention going at the end of March, we also have wildflowers/bluebonnets during that time of year so you might be in for a treat when driving on the Hill Country Roads. The correct spellings for the towns are Fredericksburg and Wimberley.

Fredericksburg is quite lovely in the spring. It's an old German town with lots of nice B&Bs and good German food. If you are up to it, take a hike up Enchanted Rock, just outside of town. Be sure to bring plenty of water.

If you want to see some beautiful hill country, rent a cabin in the Concan/Leakey area and take a drive on the "Three Sisters" roads (335,336, and 337) Very twisty and winding, but a lot of fun!
