Texas 2-3 day road trip

We are visiting our daughter in Austin Tx and looking for ideas where we could go 2-3 nights alone. We like the water, shopping and site seeing. Love Sccenic areas. Looking for where to stay in San Antoinio, South Padre Island or any other suggestions. tks.

With just 2-3 nites, I would go east from Austin on 70 to Marble Falls then south on 281 for a drive thru the Texas Hill Country to San Antonio and spend the time there.

We like to stay on the Riverwalk in San Antonio:

Still considering South Padre Island and need good hotel recommendation. Luv the beach. Or somewhere to stay on Lake Travis or hotel recommendations for San Antoine..

SA to South Padre is about a 4.5 hour drive each way. You're not near the coast in Austin/San Antonio area.

Lake Travis is lovely. South Padre is closer to 6 hrs 1 way from Austin, not worth the drive or time. Consider Hill Country, Lake Travis (Lakeway Resort is an option), San Antonio and San Marcus is also really pretty.

South Padre is a long, boring drive - if you really must go there, see about a Southwest flight.

Marble Falls and meandering down 281 to San Antonio is a great idea. Do check out the trip report linked above by Rich - one of the best I've read on this site.

Any of the hotels on the Riverwalk are nice . . you can pick your pricepoint.

Our favorites are the Hyatt https://grandsanantonio.hyatt.com/en/hotel/home.html

Either Marriots http://www.marriott.com/hotels/trave...ott-riverwalk/
