Tetons in Nov?
 

Hi,
I'm looking for some advice on the weather and activities in the Tetons in early Nov. We wanted to get some nice pictures and see some wildlife. How much snow will there be? We come from a 'no-snow' area and we do not want to go in the middle of winter. We were hoping Nov. would prove to be a happy medium- also we hate crowds.
Will the Elk Refuge be open? We don't want to fly across the country to find that the animals are not able to be seen. I realize some of the roads will be closed if we deide to drive up to Yellowstone for a day.
My last trip out there, in late Sept. last year, was great (thanks to lots of advice from this site!). I just need an idea of how Nov. will be. Thanks!

Have you checked weather.com for the average highs and lows for Nov? It's going to be chilly!

Great time of year for the Elk Refuge. If you were going a bit later, you could do a sleigh ride.

Do know that you may find yourself in snow.

I figured there would be snow- I just want to know how much? Where I live 2 inches will shut down the city. I am not opposed to seeing/vacationing in some snow and in some cold- I just want to know what I'm in for (before I get there!) Also I wanted to make sure there would still be things to see and do. Lots of moose on the back road to Teton Village.

Don't know if this helps, but we were in the Teton area a few days ago and the weather was incredible - nice crisp mornings with warm afternoons. Not a hint of snow. We never wore more than a fleece jacket, but there's a good chance you might be seeing some snow in November.

We didn't run into any closures, but you might want to check online for closing dates prior to your trip.

Crowds were not a problem in the least.

It will be cold, possible snowy. However, they are waiting for snow, so it will certainly not shut things down! Lots of moose on that road, lots of elk, yes, drive to the Yellowstone entry and maybe see some bison (but can't go in that entrance, of course). Dress in layers, be prepared for some snow, but even if there isnt any, nights will be cold.
