Tennessee with kids in November

Is there anything to see/do in Tennessee in Novermber with two 4yr olds? We were going to stay in a cabin, even thinking about driving to some other places within a few hours away. Any suggestions?

Where are you planning to stay? There are several great state parks and of course, Great Smokey National Park in Gatlinburg?
The aquarium in Gatlinburg is wonderful for kids(and adults).

"Tennessee" is pretty vague - I wouldn't necessarily go to a cabin in the Smokies in November (assuming that's where you were thinking), but Nashville or Memphis or Chattanooga have things to do all year round. Of those three, Chattanooga might be your best bet with kids. Gatlinburg could be good if you plan to stay in town; as nlg mentioned, the aquarium is good, and of course there are many other places to spend your money there. Plus at that time of year the Winterfest lights might be on, I'm not sure. But in November, the leaves will be gone (or nearly so) from the trees in the mountains, and the weather stands a good chance of being chilly and/or rainy.

Basically, if you're outdoorsy people and don't mind chilly weather, sure there are things to do, either in the mountains/state parks or the cities. If you're not, I'd stick to the cities or big towns and save the cabin for another time.

Thx, we haven't really made up our minds on where in Tennessee, shoot we might not even decide on Tennessee. We're coming out of Southern Indiana and are just looking for somewhere semi close that is beautiful and relaxing! Relaxing but also a chance to experience some great things with the kids. I'm for sure going to check out the aquarium, that sounds like a great idea! The cabin was just an idea because you can have a game room and stuff to occupy the kids but also a hot tub for the adults. :) I'm up for anymore suggestions though, thanks for all the information, I just love this site!!

If you are thinking "aquarium" go to Chattanooga, hands down and see a real one.

Agreed. Both aquariums (Gatlinburg and Chattanooga) are good, but they have different vibes. Ripley's in Gatlinburg is very kid-friendly, with a pet-the-sting-ray area and that kind of thing, plus a shark tunnel. The Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga is bigger and really amazing.

There are cabins around the Chattanooga area - that might be a good mix of down time and "events" without being in tourist mecca Gatlinburg.
