Tennesee Toss Up
I am not sure which hotels to stay in. My husband and I are planning a Nashville and Memphis Trip in October.
In Memphis it is a toss up between the s and Talbot Heirs B & B and Homewood Suites We have no children so we don't need facilities for children. In Nashville it is a toss up between the Embassy Suites at Music Row near Vanderbilt U. or Sheraton Music City. any suggestions would be appreciated. |
In Nashville, selecting between the two choices noted, I recommend either of the two but perfer the Embassy Suites simply because I perfer more space. The Sherton is much closer to "downtown" and thus has that distinct advantage. The Embassy Suites is on West End and is a great place to base out of, surrounded by good food choices and many music venues.
Can't help with Memphis, but I am parital to B&B's. Welcome to Tennessee. We are glad to have you but I would be remiss not to point out that the best of Tennessee is East Tennessee. |
This may not help you decide but this was my experience--
Sheraton "downtown " was nice, service great and convenient to downrown stuff except I felt there was less choices as to reaturants as compred to University district.--lots of choices there. However, my husband did not care about choices since he was only there to go to football game!!He was perfectly happy to eat at the Hard Rock Cafe--just across from Titan's field!! Also there is an Art museum 2 blocks from the Sheraton AND a great place for lunch one block down hill from Sheraton (go out the side entrance) "Provence" - wonderful coffee "healthy"salads and pastries to die for!!! Off the subject--If you have never been to the Opreyland Hotel-be sure to go there JUST to see the inside courtyard--it is like Hawaii and Disneyland "gardens "with waterfalls put together under a giant glassdome. I could not afford to stay there but they don't charge to look around. You are going at a great time of year. |
Sheraton music city is not that close to downtown, there is also a downtown Sheraton. Be sure you get the info on each. Music city is near airport. and downtown is on Union street and 7th.

I stayed at the Sheraton Music City and it isn't close to downtown. Like the other poster said, it is near the airport. With that said, it is a very nice hotel. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable. The only draw back I found was the that you ARE near the airport and the planes got very noisy at night.

I stand corrected as I missed the Sherton "Music City" part. The Music City is not close to downtown and without question I would not select it over your other choice. The Sherton downtown is a better choice between Shertons'
