tea in NYC

I will be visiting Manhattan this coming weekend. Can anyone recommend a good place to have afternoon tea? The Midtown area would be preferable. Thanks so much.

It's a little above Midtown, but the Stanhope is a classic place to have tea. Years ago I had it at the Plaza and I'd imagine they still serve tea there too. Ihope this helps.

Also try the Pierre, I have heard it is a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. It's at 2 East 61St & 5th Ave, the phone number is (212) 838-8000. Tea is served in the Rotunda.

Try the Plaza. You can't beat the setting.

ABC Carpet on Broadway and 18th St does a nice tea, a bit more casual, and there is also a lovely tea at The Palace a bit more upscale on Madison Ave and 50th St.

Have a great time while you are here.

There is a casual place on about 23 to 25th Street called the T-Emporium, which has a wonderful afternoon tea with tons of wonderful teas to chose from and lots of yummy food. Friends from all over the upper east coast meet there every year just before christmas.

Tea at the Peninsula Hotel is also VERY nice. I did this with my mother not too long ago and she loved it.
