the peninsula hotels do inviting tea service...fine china...wide selection of teas...delicious scones...music..outstanding service. im not familiar with their new chicago branch..but i would give them a ring.

Here's a link for you to Metromix's round up of holiday teas in Chicago. Although some are just during the holidays, I believe the Drake and the Peninsula have tea year round.

http://metromix.com/top/1,1419,M-Metromix-Home-X!ArticleDetail-13648,00.html

The Drake, the Ritz and the Four Seasons all do afternoon teas. My favorite, the Drake, has a lovely room with a fountain and musicians.

I'll cast my vote for the Drake. My daughter had her first afternoon tea there and took friends back years later when they were in college for tea.

The room is lovely and traditional, much more like the real thing than the Ritz. Haven't been to the Peninsula. Unfortunately the Drake is not in the Loop area but on North Michigan Avenue.

You should go to the Drake just to check out the ladies room.
