Tea at the Pierre
 

Hi! I read a few posts recommending tea at the Pierre and I think it would be a great idea to take the gals on my bridal party there on Sunday. I was wondering if anyone might be able to clue me in on pricing and timing? Is there is a particular dress code? =)

There is a photo of the The Rotunda, where you'll have tea at the Pierre, at http://the-pierre-hotel.visit-new-york-city.com. It's the second photo (of an oval room with trompe l'oeil murals).<BR><BR>Tea is from 3 until 5:30. Dress is "smart casual." I think it cost around $45. Can't remember.<BR>

Judy,<BR>These days it seems like anything goes for just about any occasion in terms of dress but tea at the Pierre is an excellent excuse to 'fancy up' just a little bit. The day we were there my 9 year old daughter and I wore sleeveless longer dresses and dressy sandals (it was August). Other women had on nice pants and twinset combos plus a few other assorted outfits. The service is impeccable and the waiters so attentive--what a perfect place for a bridal tea.

Wow, The Rotunda is absolutely stunning in the photo! I can only imagine what it must be like seeing it in person. Thank you Arabella and Teresa for your input on the Pierre. I agree it would be such a treat to have tea there, but $45 is quite expensive for me to pay for eight gals (including myself and mother). I guess we can experience tea at the Pierre on Mothers Day instead ;)<BR><BR>Would you know of any other locales for a lesser price p.p.? Would it be far fetched, even tacky, for me to imagine that there might be a place similar in ambiance to the Pierre for something in the ballpark of $20 p.p.? =(

I don't recall the tea being that expensive. Have you called or checked to see if they have a website? I seem to recall it was more like $30 (without liquor).<BR><BR>For a cheaper tea experience, but a very different ambiance, try Tea and Sympathy in the Village. It is more "homey" and casual, than elegant, but very authentic and enjoyable. You might also try seaching this site since there have been several posts regarding tea in NYC.<BR><BR>Good luck and enjoy!

Judy,<BR>I completely forgot something--there is a less expensive tea available at the Pierre but I can't remember how much it is...there were only two of us for tea so the extra $$'s weren't that big of a deal. But for 8 people I'd definitely wince at $45 per person!! They are SO nice at the Pierre--just call and ask and I'm sure they'll do what they can. By the way, congratulations on your wedding :-)
