taxi prices in NOLA
 

I was just wondering what the taxi prices are in NOLA and more specificaly the French Quarter? I have my mom with me so I think we may take a couple taxi's. As an example, we are staying at Conti and Bourbon and we are going to take a taxi to Frenchman street. I think thats just a bit to far of a walk for my 82 yr old mom. How much would you think a ride that far would run? Any info would be great just to give me an idea.

CC is correct on all counts. I can't imagine it would be much more than $6-8. That would probably be right around 1 mile. A lot of time we 'meander' places & then cab it back after dinner & such.

I would have said $5 to $10. Much of it can depend on your route, sometimes the time of day, and your own tipping schedule. My number includes a tip.

A cab from the french quarter to the super dome was $6.50
plus $1.00 extra per person, a total of 7.50 for two people, gave the driver $10.00. That was to the fleetwood mac concert. On the way back the driver tried to fit more than two fares into his mini van. Driver put his cap over meter and said fare was $5.00 per person back to the french quarter, I gave the driver $10.00 no tip this time. There was another couple that rode back to the french quarter in our taxi. Driver got $20.00 plus tip? for a $9.50 fare.

Taxi fare from f-quarter to airport is fixed at $28.00 for all cab companys.

Boombacca- not to question your authority, but when we were there in March, the taxi ride too and from the airport was fixed at $12.00 per person, plus a $2 surcharge for fuel for the entire carload. Based on that, 2 people would be $26.00.

Things could have changed, but just wanted to share our cab ride experience.

We just returned from NO, fixed cab rate to/from airport is $28.00.

We took taxis from the warehouse district to the French Quarter a couple of times, fares were around $6.00 - $7.00. I also took the street car (when it got really hot) for $1.25 from Canal/Bourbon back to Julia St., then walked the 4 blocks back to my hotel, that was easy too.
