taxi or car service from JFK to midtown sheraton towers
I'm going to NYC on wednesday 24 arrive at 2:30pm in JFK. I was thinking about using a car service instead of taxicab, I wanted to know what is the better and quicker way. thank you for help.

At that time it will probably be a wash. You' may spend a few minutes waitiing on the taxi line - but no longer than you would walking to the parking lot for a car service - or waiting while the driver brings the car around. The fare from JFK to midtown is a flat $45 plus toll and tip - a car service usually charges about the same - unless you find a coupon - or unless you order a limo - then it will be more.

On any other day of the year I would agree with nytraveler's advice, but the afternoon of the day before T'giving is one of the busiest travel times of the year, and the line for taxis MIGHT be very very long. I'd have a car and driver meet me.

Don't bother with a taxi or car service, the highways out of the airport will be a NIGHTMARE on Wednesday. Take the train into the city. It leaves right from JFK and you transfer to the A train which will let you off just a couple of blocks away.
It's $5.00 for the airtran and $2.00 for the subway. On that day in particular, taking any other transportation and you will be stuck in traffic for HOURS. |
I agree that between a cab or a car service, order the car service. The cab line will be awful. If you're willing to take the train, I agree that will be better but I'd connect to the E train rather than the A. It's a lot faster and won't take you all the way downtown. Here's the subway map so you can see
http://www.mta.nyc.ny.us/nyct/maps/submap.htm Faster yet would be the connection to the LIRR into Penn Station but from there, it will be hard to find a cab to the Sheraton and you won't want to walk with luggage. |
