Taxi from Unions Square to SFO?

On a Friday morning we need to get from our hotel near Union Square to SFO, and we don't want to take public transportation. What is the approximate taxi fare? Is there a better option for two travelers?

Thanks. $50 sounds like a good deal. Does anybody have experience American Airporter or a car service?

I have taken car services, cabs, Airporters, and other van services.

Compare a car service to the cost of a taxi above. The van services pick you up really early because they may have several more stops to make, and sometimes the passengers aren't ready. Car services make sense at rush hour because they are a fixed price.

american airporter is like all the others - they are all multi stop vans altho if you're getting it at a hotel it may be a bit easier as there may be more than one passenger per hotel so fewer stops.

For a car service I use execucar - owned by super shuttle you can get a AAA discount of $5 so it's $55 each way plus tip (there are no tolls to the airport)

for s similar price there's also http://www.blueshuttle.com/
Not to be confused with supershuttle-

blueshuttle is a family owned business that runs private vans to the airport for about $50 plus tip. Abbas is really nice and they are reliable and friendly. They also call you the night before to confirm which I like.

Thank you for this very specific information based on your experiences.

I like Bay Shuttle - dependable, and always have discount if you make Internet reservation.

As of today, it's $12 per person (on the left lower side). They also have different coupons, maybe you want to use pay full fare, get 2nd person 50% off - see what works for you.

Bay Shuttle is an amazing deal: $24 to take two of us from the hotel to SFO. But I'm a little worried. Is this one of those vans that runs all over town picking up passengers at other hotels?

I think it is (I've seen it on the freeway on the way to the airport)

"Is this one of those vans that runs all over town picking up passengers at other hotels?" - when you make reservation you pick your time slot. Give yourself another 20' not to worry.

And no, they don't "run all over the town" - they pick the shortest route to pick up 3-4 passengers or couples.

Thanks, Dayenu. This seems to be a well-managed operation--I made a reservation.

BART is public but quick and easy from Union Square. $8.05 to SFO. I live in SF and use it frequently.

We used Bay Shuttle, and it worked great. $24 for the two of us.

Thanks, HTTY
