Taxi from LGA to Michelangelo

We are leaving for New York in a couple of days and just wondering if there is a preferred taxi to take into the ciy??

Also..we have not yet booked the Hop on Hop off bus tour...Can we just get tickets when we get there??

I hope we have everything planned correctly!!

NYC has only yellow cabs -- with a medallion attached to their hoods (one medallion costs about half a million bucks).

Yes, you can buy your bus tour tickets when you get here.

Enjoy NYC!

If you want a taxi, go to the taxi line and do NOT accept a ride with anyone who approaches you regardless of what they offer.

Yes you can buy tix for the bus tour when you arrive. YOu might consider one of these instead.

Cannot empasize strongly enough not to take a ride from anyone except the official yellow cabs (which the dispatcher will call from the pool for you). Any other offers are illegal (and may be legit or may well be scams in which they hold your luggage hostage if you don;t give them a huge amount).

Fare to the city should be in the area of $35 - but you're on the meter and it will eb affected by traffic.

All cabs are bright yellow with a medallion fixed to the hood and a lighted number sign on top (if free). If the light is dark they already have a passenger.

Just get on line at the taxi stand. You cannot miss and as everyone else has said, do not ride with gypsy cabs.
