Taxi from JFK to Long Island City

Hi everybody,
I will need to get from JFK to a hotel at the Western end of Queens Blvd (@ Van Dam St) on a wednesday around 4pm / 4.30pm.
Since my company will pay for transportation (except for car service), I think I shall just take a taxi from the airport. Should I expect a long line at the taxi rank? Or would any other option (train + taxi from somewhere else) be faster or more sensible for whatever reason I may not foresee?
Will be hauling one rather big suitcase, if that matters.
Thanks for any advice.

As long as the company is paying, and since you'll have a large suitcase, take a taxi. The lines move quickly.

Agreed - there will be aline for the taxi - but there is a huge waiting lot - usually with at least 100 cabs in it and they will pull in from the lot as fast as needed/people and luggage can be loaded.

Actually I'd get a car service, because the taxi driver may not know where you are going, and yes I know they are supposed to know the city, but that's a big area to cover. Most taxi drivers will know Manhattan pretty well, but not as well in the boroughs.

If you get a car service, the driver will have the specific address you are going to, and if you get lost, has a radio to ask for directions.

The service car will be about the same price as a taxi, and if you go to the www.carmel.com website you may be able to find a coupon for a discount on the fare.

Have a great time while you are here.

Usuually there is a line for taxis but they will come.

Drivers will know LIC for many reasons including the fact it is the foot of the 59th Street Bridge, it is the back way from La Guardia and the Hindu cab drivers and many others live in Queens.
