taxi fare in DC

Does anyone know the approximate taxi fare from Ronald Reagan Airport to a hotel in Dupont Circle?
Thanks

are you willing to take the Metro if the taxi fare is too high?

Here's a link to the Metro info should you decide to metro it -- would be quicker and much less expensive.

I'm sorry that I can't answer your question directly, but here's a fare calculator for DC taxi rates that should at least help: http://tinyurl.com/c6t4eu2

"Quicker" may very well depend on traffic and time of day.

Yes, we are willing to take the metro if it's easy enough to do with luggage (really just carry-on)
Thanks all for your help!

Should be easy getting on at DCA even if it's rush hour. What time is your arrival.

Bettina222 Nov 5th, 2013 05:20 PM

I think about 8:00 am

Changing trains at Gallery Place with luggage in rush hour might not be fun, but slow traffic at that hour will cause taxi fare to creep up

The fare to Dupont Circle at that time of the day will be in the range of $20-$22, more if traffic is seriously stalled. Metro will be just under $6.00.

If it makes any difference, we arrive on a Saturday
Thanks

I'd say $15 max. Lower cost for the metro on a Saturday as well. If you are planning on using the metro, check the metro website for planned works. For instance this coming weekend trains will be running every 20 minutes on the blue, orange and yellow lines. The airport stop is on the blue/yellow lines.

Thanks everyone!

Two lines go to the Airport: the yellow and the blue.

From the airport, take the YELLOW LINE to Gallery Pl and change for the Red Line towards Shady Grove. If you take the Blue line from the airport, it will take 2x as long to get to your transfer point (Metro Center).

Look for the Jefferson Memorial as you cross the Potomac on the train.

I think it makes a big difference if it is Saturday, as it affects both the car traffic in the city, and the traffic on the metro. That is rush hour during the week, and trains can get very packed, but on a Saturday that early, no problem. I would definitely do metro on a Saturday with only carryon.

Well, just to let you all know that we ended up taking a taxi both ways.........about $19.00 plus tip.
Thanks for all your help!
