can any one tell me if you save much in n/h when you buy goods, i have been told n/h is tax free is this right, do you save much as to other states , also is it tax free all over state we are going to laconia many thanks peter uk

There is no sales tax anywhere in NH, unlike neighboring states. But in Massachusetts the 5% sales tax is not applied to clothing or groceries, so a large portion of everyday purchases is exempt.

New Jersey and Pennsylvania do not tax clothing.

Actually, in MA there is no sales tax on clothing up to $175.

Sales tax is the US is nothing like the rate of VAT in europe - so while it's nice to save a few $ - that's all it really amounts to - unless you're spending a huge amount of money.
