Tauck's Inside Passage Cruise
 

Has anybody taken this voyage to Alaska with Tauck World Travel? It sounds wonderful? Any details would be appreciated.

My husband and I took Tauck's Inside Passage on the Yorktown Clipper in August, 2000. It was FANTASTIC!!! Can't say enough good things about it. Wish we were going again this year!! Do plan to arrive in Juneau at least one day prior to the cruise---the airport closes frequently due to fog. Most of the "side trips" are already included but do opt for the helicopter ride with glacier landing---awesome!! Have a great trip!

Haven't done the inside passage tour (yet), but have our 8th Tauck Tour scheduled for July (Cariboo Adventure: Jaspar Park and Helihiking). Can't say enough about the quality of Tauck's tours. You won't be disappointed.

Also, we are having a baby on Monday (I am being induced) so it will probably be a year or so before we get to go - - - so I guess I have lots of time to plan!<BR><BR>

Mary,<BR>I've been reading literature on Tauck's tours for some time now, but we have never taken any of them. Have you ever taken any that go to the Grand Canyon? I noticed that they have a five day trip there. Also, I know this isn't the Africa forum, but would you recommend any of the safari trips that Tauck offers? Tauck's tours sound wonderful! Thanks.

Hi Mary,<BR><BR>I am glad there is someone out there like me. I am obsessed with readin the brochures! I want to go so bad!!! You will want to hear from those who have already gone, but I too have read the different US West itineraries. The Canyonlands seems to be the best. The five day ones are new - and although less expensive, I am not sure they are as high a value as the other trips - dollar for dollar. <BR><BR>I too am curious to hear what someone who has gone has to say about them - Have they ever started yet???<BR><BR>jb

Thanks, they look wonderful, but the prices aren't on the website. So it is, I guess, a matter of "if you have to ask....." Thanks for the ballpark figures, although I'd also wonder how many days you are talking about.

Bev~~<BR><BR>We've done the Canyonlands tour twice -- should give you an idea of how much we liked the trip to the Grand Canyon. That trip also goes to Lake Powell, Bryce and Zion. Zion is actually my favorite spot on the trip. It is truly a super trip.<BR><BR>~~Mary

Isn't Tauck mainly for senior citizens?

We've taken 2 tours with Tauck ,Canyonland last year & the rockies with BC both were fantastic.<BR>Both tours had a mix of ages from 40 to 80 year olds,Also there were a few Brits like us on the tours.<BR><BR>Barry

sd,<BR><BR>I think they do attract an older clientele - probably because they are on the pricey side - but from everything I've heard, these folks, whether 40 or 80 are really into the travel and are very hardy.<BR><BR>I am 40 and my husband is 36 and we are probably going to go next year. <BR><BR>jb

We will go on our seventh Tauck tour in September and have also done a Holland America cruise/land tour of Alaska...I honestly think you don't need to do a Tauck tour on this one. On the ship you don't need any services other than the HA day tours offered or go on your own. After three nights on the ship, you disembark with the HA tour for the eight day land portion. Our guide for that tour was superb, equal to Tauck quality, tops in every way, as was the entire inland experience. Bus, hotels, meals are all essentially the same as Tauck would be able to offer. I am the queen of loving Tauck, but think you might be able to save a bit of money, do most of the same things by checking out the HA catalog of cruise/inland tours.

Karen,<BR><BR>How many people were on the Holland America trip? I think there are 60 on Tauck's. That is a big factor for my husband and I.<BR><BR>Thanks.<BR><BR>JB

Wow, 60 on a Tauck trip is alot more than we've ever had, that seems to be more than a bus load. Can't remember exactly, but I would estimate the land portion of the trip had 35 and that is a wild guess and suppose it could be more or less at another time.
