When I was a young nurse working at Queens Hospital in Honolulu- we had the good fortune to meet Richard Marks and wife Gloria as patients. They invited us to stay at Kalaupapa for a weekend.

When we arrived Richard was in hospital again but Gloria was our hostess for the weekend and gave us personal tours.

We stayed in the housing for the "Kokuas" and had a very unique weekend.

That was over 30 years ago - but still fresh in my memory of memorable weekends
