Tarrty town NY to Providence?
Is I95 the best route? How is the traffic? Time is a factor, but, a slightly slower scenic route would be nice. Any ideas?
Thanks! |
Ooops! Sorry. Tarrytown. Not Tarrty town.
|
I would go up the Hutchinson River Parkway, which becomes the Merritt Parkway in CT. You go up to Brideport and then can cut over to I 95. The Merritt is much nicer road - view wise and does not have trucks on it.
Hope this helps... Debi |
Tarrytown is basically on I-287. And I-287 connects directly to Merritt. Jump back to I-95 at Milford (just before New Haven).

Just travel before 7:30AM or after 10:30AM and you should be fine. Traffic can be horrendous during rush hour.
Evening rush is between 3:30 and 7:30. |
rkkwan's directions are right on the mark. It'll take about 3 hours.....unless you hit a traffic snag.
|
I believe that it is still called the Hutchinson River Parkway where it intersects with I287. You should take the northbound exit [which is the second exit; southbound being the first] off of 287 and it will become the Merritt when you cross into CT.[just after exit 27] It will be CT 15 at that point. The exit to cross over to I95 is #54, near Milford {sorry about saying Bridgeport in earlier post}. You will then head east and connect with I95.
There are height restrictions but I expect you are driving a car or SUV which are fine. Hope this helps... Debi |
Yes, I think Debi is correct. It's still called Hutchison River Parkway until one gets into CT. Thanks for the clarification.
|
And just to complete the "complete" directions, it's Exit 9 off 287 to get to the Hutch/Merritt Parkways.

Well, now that WE'VE got it perfected...we just need cactushugger to come back and get the directions =D>

Thank you ALL! Wow! Who needs Triple A! These are excellent directions and will probably save lots of time and grey hairs.

topping for tec
Debi |
Hey Debi,
What does your last message mean? Forgive me for being a ludite. |
"topping" is a way to send a post [like this one] to the #1 spot in the list so someone can find it. I was trying to let someone read what we had already posted so they could get info that was similar to their Q. As you have probably noticed...Q's get moved down the list fast and often newcomers aren't sure how to find old posts. So entering something [anything will do, but "topping' or "TTT" = to the top] in the reply box will move the post up.
Hope this explains... Debi |
Thanks Debi! Now I get it. I guess the only dumb question is the one you don't ask. I just keep on learning from this board.
