Taos Pueblo opening hours.

I was planning a trip to Northern New Mexico for early March.

I wanted to visit and photograph the Taos pueblo. The web site notes. "Late winter to early Spring the Pueblo closes for about ten weeks. Please call ahead if you'll be visiting during this time."

Can we still visit? Will it be possible to visit the Pueblo with prior arrangement? Is the pueblo closed to non-residents?

I have called the Pueblo left messages and received no reply yet.

Thank you, in advance, for your help.

I am sorry to not have an answer for you. I would be patient about a reply; things tend to move a bit slower out here.

I will see if I can find anything more out for you.

When the Pueblo is closed, it is closed to non-residents.

As Deb said, be patient. Someone will return your call sooner or later.

DH and I were in NM in late March 2008. Taos Pueblo was still closed. There were guards on the road into the pueblo just past the casino. That was the only disappointment of our trip.

Thank you for the responses. I will wait a bit longer before finalizing my plans.

One of my main reasons for visiting Northern New Mexico is to visit the Pueblo. If it is closed in early March, I will change plans for a different time of the year.

Oh Greg, if that is the purpose of your trip, do reschedule it.

March here is really the pits. Mud, late snow, not our best time of year by far.

For photography purposes, the summer, fall [my favorite] and real winter are the way to go. Spring here is really our worst season.

Thank you Deb for the information.
My main passion is photography - which obviously is dependent on good light. I believe a fall trip or perhaps one before Christmas may be a better choice for me.

The light in the fall is amazing.

I was just there New Year's Day. The snow around the pueblo was amazing, especially with the bright blue sky. Unfortunately, no photography was available but we were very fortunate to be present for the Turtle Dance. Amazing!
