Tampa Experts?
Hi
Going to Tampa area end of March for a week with 2 teens. Want to swim with the Manatees north of Tampa, then will head on down to Siesta Key and Sarasota. Ideas on what area to stay in? Things to do in Tampa and the outlying areas? Thanks! Linda |
Don't miss the Dali Museum in downtown St. Pete.
If you plan to spend a night or two north of Tampa on the beach, check our Clearwater or the other beaches in that area. South of Tampa, consider staying on Lido Key within walking distance of St. Armand's Circle. Your teens will thank you. |
Thanks! I guess I should add I don't want an area wild, loud, or crazy, contrary to what my teens might want!!! Still want a "family" vacation. Thanks!

Lido is a great beach with a series of hotels & condo complexes .. typical Florida.
St. Armand's Circle is a bustling shopping area, with ice cream shops etc ... many of the Lido hotels are within walking distance, and I think it's great for a family with teens. (And by the end of March, 99% of college spring breaks are over.) |
Are you looking for just one place to stay?
Crystal River is the best area to swim with the Manatees. It is about an hour north of Tampa. Sarasota is about an hour south of Tampa. In Tampa, your teens might like visiting Channelside which is a shopping, eating, and movie place. Clearwater Beach will still be busy at that time but just south of it is Sand Key which might have less people. Your teens might also like Busch Gardens in Tampa. |
Thanks!
