Hope this reply is not too late for you.
The Holiday Inn Express Tampa Rocky Point Island is a great place to stay.
They have a shuttle to take you to the airport and pick you up --- and if you
stay at their hotel either before or after you trip --- the parking is FREE!
So, if you are gone for several days you
can get a night at the hotel and free parking for the price you would pay just to park at the airport.

Close by are the following: Wyndham (Kennedy @ Westshore), Embassy Suites (Westshore), La Quinta (Boy Scout or Spruce Rd). You would need to check about the parking, I have no idea. Good luck.

We stayed at the Doubletree Guest Suites at Rockypoint - free parking and I believe a free airport shuttle. Fabulous place, stunning pool, you can see the dolphins and manatees right from the pool area. Gorgeous interior. It was a pretty nice hotel for a business hotel. Nonetheless, I've heard that absolutely nothing beats the Grand Hyatt, right across the road from the Doubletree - if you read the reviews at tripadvisor.com or biddingfortravel.com, it sounds like one outstanding hotel. Both of these hotels are available through priceline, although of course priceline does not guarantee any particular hotel. The Grand Hyatt has its own nature preserve. Wish we had stayed there!
