TAMPA

Looking for a good restaurant near Union Station in Tampa that would be open for breakfast. We will be arriving by train and have a few hours to use while waiting for our ride.
Thanks for any help.

Andrea, I know you've posted a couple times about this...I live across the bay so can't give you breakfast rec's, but you might do better posting your question at www.chowhounds.com (the Florida section). Usually a question like this generates a good response (especially if you use "Breakfast in Tampa near Union Station" or some other specific header. Hope this helps!

Likewise, I've seen the post a couple of times with no replies...and sorry can't help you now. I even live in Tampa, and am clueless as to where the station is--thus the dead silence. :< Train travel into/out of Tampa must not be terribly popular.

I just looked up the address. 601 Nebraska Ave. It's a section not far from Ybor City, and downtown. I wouldn't wander around there...you can get into bad areas in a flash. Why don't you catch a cab to the Marriott Waterside or another downtown hotel, have breakfast there, then enjoy the riverfront until your ride arrives (and picks you up there). It'd be a quick, inexpensive ride downtown and that, at least, is a decent area, and pleasant to sit and watch the goings on on the river.

I just want to second OliveOyl's response. I also so your post but couldn't think of where the station is. I also live in Tampa!
The idea of the cab ride to Marriot Waterside is great! Once you eat you can explore the shops etc while waiting for you ride. You'll be in a much better area!

I used to live in Tampa and I had know idea about the union station either. the hyatt westshore used to have a great brunch at oystercatchers (sunday only?) you might be stuck at a village inn I don't think tampa has that much to choose from for breakfast.

Thanks to all who suggested taking a taxi to the Marriott Waterside from Union Station. That's exactly the help I was looking for!
Wendy in PA

I live in Tampa. The train station is right downtown. The Marriott Waterside is nice. About 8 blocks from the trainstation. Everything else around there does not open until lunchtime unless you want the fastfood stuff.
