You don't get many views in SF for under $150. There are many hotels in your price range. But once you get altitude and fabulous views the prices seriously increase.

Tallest hotel in town is the Mandarin Oriental, but rooms in the janitor's closet start at $300.
Best way to get a high floor for fewest $$ is to go with a big, impersonal convention hotel like the Hilton Towers, Marriott, Hyatt, etc.
They're still not cheap, but they offer deals frequently.
All the cheaper boutique and budget hotels are low rises to the best of my knowledge.

Thanks to all, need all the input I can get. The parking can sure bring the price up "geez" Unfortunately the $150 I was hoping to stay under is well over $200 lousy CDN $.
Most appealing I think to be able to see the Golden Gate bridge from the hotel are there many with that view that are still somewhat central
How about the CROWNE PLAZA UNION SQUARE
anyone know about that one.
Thanks Again I really do appreciate the input

Comfort Inn by the Bay in the Marina District has good views of the GG Bridge. If you book it thru hotelres.com it's $119 for a high floor w/view, Q/Q. Parking is $18 a day. (thru the choicehotels website it's $140)
