Talkeetna lodging

We are looking for some logding suggestions in the Talkeetna area -- is this a good place to stay? We plan to spend 4 days in that area. Thanks for your help.

The Talkeetna Lodge was very pleasant.
http://www.talkeetnalodge.com/
There are also several moderate b&b's in town, but we didn't stay there. Talkeetna's a gas, and a great base for Denali expeditions and Denali fly-overs. Try Michelle's Cafe.

I attended a wedding in Talkeetna recently at the Denali Overlook Inn. Absolutely beautiful b&b with exposed timberwork and an incredible view of the Alaska range about 10 miles out of town.

More central and a little more affordable is the Eye of Denali, probably 1 mile from main street on the river. 2 or 3 bedrooms with a full kitchen and living area downstairs. We used the bikes outside to make the trip back and forth to town.

I loved Talkeetna. What character!
We stayed in the Swiss Alaska Inn. It was clean and nice. The modern luxury of a whirlpool bath was unexpected in a village where some of the residents live in tents year round.

Another vote for the Swiss Alaska.
