Talkeetna hiking/getting there
 

Hi,
My friend and I will be taking a train or bus from Anchorage to Talkeetna to do some hiking. We won't have a car. Any suggestions of how to get to trails? ARe there buses? Thanks.

I can't imagine visiting Talkeetna without a car.

Me neither, but I must confess I'm not at all fond of the place.

However, here's a short list of hikes near Talkeetna. It looks like only one is accessible from the village itself; the others would require car access. Talkeetna Hiking Trails

As for buses, with a population of around 800 counting dogs, public transportation is nonexistent.
