I need your help. I should have thought about this earlier. My daughter and her friend are moving to Manhattan tomorrow 9/6. They will be traveling with multiple big bags--four big suitcases and one trunk, plus one carry-on each. Do you think they will need two taxis? Or do they have station wagon/van type taxis? I check cost of private transportation--limo/van etc. and they are pretty pricey. However, if they will need two taxis that could add up too--close to $100, I guess. Does anyone have any words of wisdom to a anxious mom???<BR>I truly appreciate any info.

Ship the excess baggage via UPS ground.

Thanks for your advice. I actually have already done that. Since they are both allowed to take two bags, they are planning on doing so. Any other suggestions out there????

There are station wagon type cabs in NYC. Maybe they could request one at the cab stand. Surely this won't be the first time someone arrives in NYC with tons of luggage. I'm sure that someone will give them a hand with it.

The taxis that look like a station wagon are no bigger than regular size yellow cabs. I don't know that is the answer to your problem. You might try a car service that uses town cars which have large trunks. Fare from LGA is about $28; JFK around $37. EWR is probably the same price as JFK. One such company is Carmel - (212) 666-666. They have an 800 number - check an 800 directory on thev internet

I remember hearing a new story last weekend about how airlines are now enforcing already-in-place regulations on weight of baggage per person in addition to number of bag regulations. I ignored the story, because I could not imagine ever travelling with so much poundage - I know this case is different and not a vacation, but check with airline on weight.<BR><BR>I can not imagine all this fitting in any car, station wagon, even mini-van.
