Taking Public transportation from JFK to Park Slope
Sorry, I forgot to ask if taking public transportation to Prospect Park West in Park Slope from JFK was too big a hassle...or is it feasible. Thank you!

That is a schlep.
You must take the Airtrain to either the LIRR or 8th Avenue line. You would still need to take another train and then walk depending where in Park Slope. |
Can you manage your luggage up and down stairs? Your only public trans. option is the AirTrain to the subway and most subway stations don't have elevators or escalators.
Try using hopstop.com with the exact address of your destination and see what it says. |
Looks like you could take the JFK AirTrain to the Howard Beach A train subway station. Take the A train in the direction of Manhattan and transfer at Jay St/Borough Hall to the F train heading to Brooklyn (away from Manhattan). The F train has stops at 7th Av (at 9th St) or Prospect Park West and 15th St.

Yes, what ellenem says! I live in Park Slope and usually take a car service or taxi - because I'm lazy after a long flight and with my bags, and just want to get home LOL! But it's perfectly doable with public transportation. As ellenem says, take the Manhattan-bound A train to Jay Street/Borough Hall in Brooklyn. Go up and over to transfer to the Coney Island-bound F train. It's just 6 stops to PPW/15th Street.
As for stairs, the "up and over" at Jay Street is one flight up and one down; neither is particularly long or steep. At 15th Street, there is one short flight to the token booth level, and another short one up to the street. However, if you are at the other end of Park Slope, you will want to consider other options. Grand Army Plaza is about a mile from the F train at 15th Street, and the city bus is notoriously bad out here! What is the address (or cross street) where you are staying? |
