Taking Flight In Los Angeles
Last Sunday, Tracy and I decided to head to downtown Los Angeles to take a short journey on a recently reopened historical landmark that I used to love to go to with my parents when I was a kid, Angels Flight. I guess I wanted to relive a bit of my childhood. Once there, we decided to walk around L.A. for awhile, and we had a blast.
I worked in downtown L.A. about 30 years ago, and in a short span I saw one shooting across the street from my office and, shortly thereafter, needed to sidestep a dead body in my parking lot.
Needless to say, visiting downtown is a much better experience today. Lots of great restaurants for dining and interesting, significant places to visit, whether you come here for business and pleasure.
Tracy and I figured since we love to explore historical venues on our various vacations, why not explore our own city and get reacquainted with some of its history. The link to our mini day trip is below. Tracy and I are planning some more "local day trips" in the future and I will share our experiences. Hopefully, they will not include getting shot.

Love it! I'm glad the Angels Flight finally reopened. That section of DT LA is really interesting, though most tourists associate LA with Disneyland or beaches. If you have a chance, consider taking the guided walking tours organized by LA Conservancy. Most of the tours are on Sat 10am. We took one last year (Art Deco) and loved it.

"Was there a spre-boarding ecurity check? Did they take away your water bottles? Did you go through customs coming back?"
We didn't have to buckle our seat belts (of course, there weren't any). And, since the funicular ride is only 350 feet long, I didn't have to sit through a terrible movie.
It was very fun and brought back some great childhood memories of doing this with my parents more than four decades ago.
