Taking an East Coast road trip, hotels, motels, sights?

Jump to last reply

We are planning to take a road trip along the east coast of the USA starting in Washington or Maryland landing point down to Miami, Florida.
We are a family with 3 older children (high school and university) going on a memorable vacation of around 2 weeks. Ending at Grandma.
Looking for route ideas, places to absolutely see, for fun, for beauty and for history, places to stay along the way, and even where to eat that great meal.
It would be great if we could visit real people establishments rather than chains and support something local as we go.
All ideas most welcome and thanks in advance for sharing.
