Taj Boston (Ritz Carlton) vs. The Lenox

Hi All, I'm currently booked into at Deluxe Double at the Lenox for my upcoming visit to Boston. I got a fairly decent rate of 295.00 per night). I just found out that the Taj (formerly the Ritz Carlton) is offering equally good rates for the same weekend. Is it worth making the switch? How is the hotel now that it has changed ownership? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Living here I can't tell you anything about the bedrooms. I still go to the "Ritz" bar, love the fire going in the bar when stopping for a drink. The taj is by Arlington Subway stop(overlooks the Public Garden)
The lenox is by the Copley Subway stop.
Both ar terrific locations.

I stayed at the Lenox a few years ago, not sure if the rooms have been renovated, but it was not great when I was there.

As the previous poster mentioned they are both great locations. The Ritz would afford easier access to Beacon Hill (as well as Back Bay) which is great for shopping, dining, etc.

Given both choices and prices being the same, I'd opt for the Taj.

oops... spoke to soon. I just a few tripadvisor reviews. the taj/ritz doesn't rate very well...

looks like their rooms are pretty tired as well. Maybe you'd want to check out some other options???

some places I have stayed in boston are:

* Copley Fairmont: loved it. got a great room through priceline for $80 per night.

* Copley Marriott: stayed here twice. both times very nice. very corporate, but clean and really nice and excellent location. both times through priceline, $80 per night.

* Intercontinental: brand new hotel. absolutely GORGEOUS!! not as good a location as the back bay hotels, but close to the brand new ICA museum. would require taking the T (the south station red line is very close by) to other parts of the city, or a cab. would be walking distance to the aquarium, fanueil hall, etc., but not to back bay / beacon hill, etc. -- paid $149 through travelzoo.com , have noticed that this deal is still active. this is a very good deal for such a nice hotel. there is also a fantastic bar in the lobby, rumba.

* Beacon Hill Hotel and Bistro: this is more of an inn than a hotel, but is extremely charming and very clean and nice. It is on Charles Street in Beacon Hill, very close to the common. Great location. The bistro serves fantastic food. Call for prices. http://www.beaconhillhotel.com/

I hope this helps.

How many nights? More than once I have relocated out of curiousity about NYC hotels. If your days are filled, you could do both, check out and drop your bags. Sounds crazy, but I love taking it all in, and the Ritz, Tag is very intriguing even if they had a tough open.
