Tahoe in October - Suggestions for Accomodations
I'd like to spend a few days in the Lake Tahoe area this fall. I understand that October is a quiet month, since it is in between the summer hiking/water sports season and the ski season. That's what I want - peace and quiet. Anyone have a suggestion as to a pleasant place to stay, preferably with a view, not too expensive?

If you are interested in a condo, check out Brockway Springs Resort in Kings Beach. The condos are all lakefront or lakeview, and October is the value season, so the rates are lower. Most of the condos have decks or balconies that look out on the lake.

WE're also interested in being in Tahoe in late October/early Nov. What's the weather like? Will we have any problem driving from SF? When does the snow start flying?

We've been up to Lake Tahoe several times in October and never had any trouble driving up from the Bay Area. The snow could start falling in October, but more than likely it wont or if it does wont be anything that sticks. Generally the snow doesn't really start to fall until the middle or end of November. It will probably be pretty chilly at Lake Tahoe in October though. These are generalizations though since the weather in the Sierras is pretty unpredictable, esspecially in Fall and Spring.

I live in Reno, and Lake Tahoe is the perfect place to visit in Sept/October. The weather is still nice. The change occurs around Halloween, when it turns cold and windy.
